DESCRIPTION:
The TAR-21, often referred to as the TAVOR, is an Israeli-designed bullpup rifle utilizing the STANAG magazine system. It supports both semi-automatic and fully automatic firing modes and employs a long-stroke piston mechanism derived from the AK series. Designed for reliability and easy maintenance in harsh conditions like deserts, the TAVOR has become a staple of the Israeli military. The M-TAR21, a compact version of this rifle, was adopted as the standard issue for Israel's infantry.
Between 2001 and 2002, the TAVOR underwent rigorous testing by the Israeli military, competing directly with the M4-A1. Tests focused on reliability, ergonomics, maintenance ease, and performance under adverse conditions. The TAVOR outperformed the M4-A1, proving itself as the superior choice for Israel's armed forces. By 2018, the Israeli infantry was expected to be fully equipped with TAVOR rifles.
In airsoft, the TAVOR stands out as an ergonomic and versatile weapon ideal for scouting and close-quarters combat. Its compatibility with standard airsoft STANAG magazines is a significant advantage, offering convenience and practicality during matches. M4 magazines are widely available and affordable, increasing the likelihood of team members carrying interchangeable magazines.
Despite being a sportline model, this TAVOR includes notable external features such as a visible safety indicator on the left-side fire selector, a mock bolt that locks and releases like the real rifle, and foldable sights.
The body is constructed from durable plastic, similar to the material used for G36C replicas. While lightweight, it feels solid and does not compromise on build quality. This lightweight design enhances maneuverability, making it comfortable for prolonged use. The rifle’s ergonomic build and rear-weighted balance allow for quick target acquisition, making it ideal for CQB scenarios. Additionally, its compact size makes it a reliable primary weapon for outdoor field games, minimizing the risk of snagging on obstacles or delaying target alignment.
This version features a metal gearbox with fully upgradeable internals, including a quick-change spring system that simplifies maintenance, eliminating the hassle of aligning gears and securing springs during assembly.
