There are a lot of competitive pistols in the style of 2011 on the market. Even though many of them are great for competition, they aren't as tough or reliable as a job or personal defence gun. Salient Arms saw a need in the market and was already known for making tough, high-performance weapons. They started making a double stack 1911 that would do well at the range and could also be used to protect your home or life in the field. The Salient Arms DS 2011 gun is the result of many years of work. The SAI DS was made with the idea that form should follow function in mind. It was perfectly designed to meet the needs of serious shooters. With aggressive front and rear slide serrations, milled lightning cuts on both sides of the slide, and intense competition style sights, it's clear that the SAI DS was made by shooters for shooters. When Salient Arms made the DS, they broke all the rules for 2011-style pistols, starting from scratch and leaving old ways of doing things behind. The result is a pistol that works in the worst conditions and under the most stress, and whose service you can stake your life on.

EMG and Salient Arms have worked together for longer, and they are happy to present the Salient Arms x EMG DS 2011 collaboration Airsoft Training pistol. The EMG SAI DS 2011 is CNC machined from steel and was made with great attention to detail. This training replica has all the features of a real Salient Arms pistol, such as a titanium nitride style barrel, competition style sights with a fibre optic front insert, an ambidextrous safety, and of course, Salient Arms International rollmarks to prove its authenticity. The Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa gas system lets a lot of different bits and pieces be used to improve the Salient Arms / EMG DS pistol. This makes it easy to fix and maintain, and it will last for years. For the CNC machined steel pistol, the weight and feel of the gun are unmistakably like the weight and feel of a real loaded handgun. The extra weight of the slide increases the recoil force as the heavy slide cycles back with each shot.
