The Snow Wolf Kar98k is for individuals who want a high-quality, realistic, and easy-to-shoot historical copy of a kar98. Snow Wolf went out of their way to make an excellent copy of the famous German rifle. They didn't leave out any of the small details that make a Kar98k what it is. The metal on the gun and the stock are both finished in a way that is very true to the way things were done during world war 2.

The front sight block is attached to the barrel with steel pins. The front sight is made up of a front blade in the shape of a barleycorn and a folded steel sight protector. This gives the gun its authentic Kar98k shape. Under the front sight, there is a cleaning rod for show only, a bayonet mount lug built into the left side of the front barrel band, and a sling loop on the left side of the second barrel band. All of these parts are made of strong steel and metals and have perfect finishes. The 25-inch barrel gives this gun plenty of length for a long inner barrel. This makes it very accurate, which is something the real Kar98k is known for.

The top handguard, which I have to say is of stunning quality. It doesn't try to look "match-grade" like a modern hunting rifle. Instead, it goes for the true "rushed into battle" look, which is how a Kar98k should look.

We can find the adjustable tangent sight behind the top handguard. It can be set out to 1000m, but we don't think you'll hit anything that far away with a 6mm BB. If you lift it up, you will find the HOP adjustment grub screw, which is more useful to the skirmisher. This is a great design. It is totally hidden under the rear sight, and because it is a TDC design, it won't have any of the problems that most bolt-action spring rifles with slider-style hop-ups do.

As we move further back, we come to the classic bolt, which is well made and has a period-correct grey-black finish and works easily. The gun has a real and working Kar-98k safety lever on the back of the bolt, above the dummy cocked indicator. Under the stock, there is a well-hidden magazine well that looks like a real KAr98k integrated magazine baseplate and can be opened to put in the tiny 23rd magazine.

This version has a bolt stop, which means that when the magazine is empty, the bolt can only be pulled back, not forward, until the empty magazine is released. Pull the bolt handle back and hold it. Push the catch in front of the trigger guard to release the empty magazine. This is a good way to tell when you're out so you don't fire on empty by accident.

Both the trigger and the guard are made of metal and have the same great finish as the rest of the rifle's metal parts.

On the buttstock, there are some features that are very German. These features are still on many H&K guns to this day. Like a real gun, the sling loop goes through the stock itself. There is also a metal disc in the middle of the stock. On the real Kar98k, this disc is used to take apart the bolt and keep the firing pin in place. That's what I call paying attention to the little things! At the back, there is an original folded steel buttplate from the middle of the war that goes well with the '43 lines on the barrel trunion.

Even when we look at how it works, it is still amazing. This Kar98k can shoot at an amazing 400 FPS right out of the box. It has the range to match its look and is easy to cock so you can start taking out targets at a distance. Compared to other bolt action sniper rifles, the spring action bolt moves smoothly and quickly. So, if you like skirmishing with weapons that are true to history or just want a working replica of a classic gun that is true to history, this is the one for you.
