There's some enjoyable mechanical detail around the receiver too. The functional charging handle can be pulled back to expose the adjustable hop-up unit, and the mechanism can lock rearward while you make your adjustment. Once you're finished, operating the bolt catch releases it again. None of this makes a BB travel faster, of course, but it makes adjusting the rifle feel considerably more satisfying than poking around behind a flimsy plastic dust cover. It's the sort of tactile feature that helps the Double Bell SCAR-H feel like a more complete replica rather than simply a gearbox wearing SCAR-shaped furniture.

Inside, the rifle is based around a Version 2 gearbox design. V2 architecture is extremely familiar within the airsoft world, with a broad ecosystem of compatible service and upgrade components available should maintenance or future tuning become necessary. Power is supplied by an airsoft battery connected through a rear-wired Mini Tamiya plug, with the wiring routed towards the stock assembly. At the rear, the folding stock gives this otherwise fairly long airsoft gun a useful second personality. Fold it to the side and the overall package becomes easier to transport and noticeably less awkward when negotiating confined spaces. That doesn't suddenly turn a long SCAR-H into a tiny CQB machine, but it certainly helps around doorways, vehicles and tight staging areas.
