It is certainly noticeable on a belt, but that extra size contributes to its stable handling and unmistakable character.

The most obvious feature is the distinctive Type-B split slide. Deeply machined sections expose the outer barrel and remove material from the moving portion of the slide. This reduces reciprocating mass, allowing the blowback action to cycle more quickly than a conventional solid-slide design. The result is a sharp recoil impulse, rapid return to battery and responsive follow-up shots. It looks dramatic, but unlike some decorative machining, it also has a genuine effect on how the pistol operates.

The extended front section incorporates a textured compensator-style assembly that gives the Dragon its long, angular profile. It helps visually balance the slide and adds weight towards the muzzle, which can make the pistol feel steadier when tracking between targets. The extended frame also provides a broad surface beneath the barrel, while the 20mm accessory rail allows compatible torches or laser aiming devices to be fitted for low-light games and CQB use.

Inside, the Dragon 7.0 uses an approximately 170mm inner barrel. That is considerably longer than the barrel found in a standard Hi-Capa, giving the BB more time to accelerate and stabilise before leaving the muzzle. A longer barrel does not automatically guarantee perfect accuracy, but when combined with quality ammunition and a correctly adjusted hop-up, it can support excellent consistency and tight groupings at normal pistol engagement distances.

The adjustable hop-up system applies backspin to the BB, helping it maintain lift and travel along a flatter path. Quality 0.20g BBs are useful for initial testing and chronograph readings, while 0.25g ammunition will often provide better stability during outdoor skirmishes. Once properly set, the Dragon is capable of dependable range and accuracy, making it suitable for players who want their sidearm to do more than simply cover the last few metres.

Green Gas powers the pistol as standard, with typical velocity sitting around 300 to 330 FPS depending on temperature, gas pressure, BB weight, magazine condition and hop adjustment. Some setups may approach 350 FPS in warmer conditions, so the airsoft pistol should always be tested at the site chronograph before play. Compatible optional CO2 magazines may also be used, offering another option for colder weather, although CO2 generally produces higher operating pressure and can increase both recoil and muzzle energy.

The full gas blowback action gives each shot a crisp mechanical snap as the slide moves rearwards and returns into battery. Thanks to the reduced slide mass, the cycling speed feels particularly lively for a pistol of this size. Quick double taps come naturally, and the pistol settles back onto target with less fuss than its long profile might suggest. It is not subtle, but then neither is a 7.0-inch Dragon. Subtlety was clearly left in another parts bin.

The frame, slide and outer barrel are all metal, while the grip is polymer to keep the handling comfortable and provide useful traction. The textured grip surface gives a secure hold in bare hands or gloves, and the enlarged beavertail helps position the hand high on the frame. A functional grip safety and ambidextrous thumb safety preserve the familiar Hi-Capa control layout, making the pistol suitable for left- and right-handed players.

Competition-style details continue around the lower frame. The skeletonised trigger offers a clean, direct feel, while the flared magazine well guides fresh magazines into the grip during reloads. This is particularly useful under pressure, where a slightly misaligned magazine can turn a quick reload into an awkward bit of fumbling. The supplied magazine holds approximately 30 to 31 rounds, giving the pistol a useful capacity without relying on an oversized extended magazine.

One of the Dragon 7.0's biggest advantages is the Hi-Capa platform itself.
